Panther Falls is a beautful spot located in the Jefferson National Forest in western VA. My family goes there as often as possible. It is however a very long drive up winding mountain roads. The closest town is Buena Vista which is a very small neat mountain town that does offer a hotel. There is also very primitive camping available and the Appalachian Trail is nearby. The falls can't be seen from the road but it is just a short easy hike (my two year old can do it) from the parking area. It seems to get a bit crowded during the summer and the flow is slower but in the Spring it's breathtaking. Alas I do not have a picture to upload because they were all on my old computer which crashed, but I do recommend going and taking a look for yourself and pictures of course.
